Old Eilat hotel takes a plunge for divers

One of Eilat's oldest hotels, the Pierre, has been sold to a local diving company for $1.5 million and will be converted to a hotel for scuba divers and sportspeople, reports www.mynet.co.il. The 34-room centrally located hotel, which in recent years has functioned as an upgraded youth hostel, was bought by the Dive-In company, which runs two diving clubs in Eilat. According to the report, the company decided to buy the hotel and adapt it for the benefit of participants in diving courses around Eilat, who often find other hotels unsuited to their needs. The report said the hotel would also cater for participants in "challenge sports" such as cycling or sailing who visit the city for competitive events.
