Everyone knows that Israelis are among the most computer-savvy people around. And now the Guinness Book of World Records is checking whether the oldest blogger in the world may be living in Tel Aviv, reports www.mynet.co.il. Great-great-grandfather Salim Cohen, 100 years young, has been posting stories about his long life in his blogs, and he may end up with the world record as a result.
According to the report, Cohen was born in Beirut in 1909, and lived in Egypt before immigrating to Israel. He has lived in the same apartment in the Hadar Yosef neighborhood of Tel Aviv for half his long life, and has four children, 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Because of his long residence in Tel Aviv and because he is exactly the same age as the city itself, the committee organizing the city's 100th birthday celebrations this year has chosen him as one of its symbols. A committee spokesman said the city had submitted Cohen's name to Guinness.
Cohen himself said he loved Tel Aviv and wished it "all the best in the world," and he hoped that people would read his blogs and respond to them.
