Hod Hasharon plans new center

The city of Hod Hasharon has chosen the Baruch-Solomon architecture company to design its new municipal center and a 100-dunam central park, reports www.local.co.il. The company, which designed Holon's Mediatheque and Haifa's International Congress Center among other projects, was chosen from a line-up of top architects who competed in presenting plans for the new city center. According to the report, Hod Hasharon hopes to turn its historic city center into an attractive and functional focal point surrounded by greenery. The report said the chosen plan would see the city center designed like a university campus, with main roads and cross roads uniformly paved, lined with greenery and designed to encourage pedestrian use. In addition, a 100-dunam central park is being planned. Mayor Hai Adiv said the architectural competition was in line with the city's stance "that places the residents of the city in the center and supplies them with the best possible services." The report did not provide any cost estimates for the work.
