After a 15-year break, the Tel Aviv Marathon is making a comeback as part of the city's 100th birthday celebrations, reports www.local.co.il. The revived marathon, which will trace a 42-kilometer course through the city, will leap off the starting line on April 24.
According to the report, Mayor Ron Huldai decided that the year-long birthday celebrations provided an ideal opportunity to breathe new life into the marathon. Runners will set off from the Charles Clore Garden at 6:45 a.m. and make their way through Jaffa, central and north Tel Aviv and Ganei Yehoshua before returning to the finish line back at the Charles Clore Garden. Musical and other shows will dot the route and there will be a large "happening" in the Charles Clore Garden. There will also be 10- and 5-kilometer tracks for those not taking part in the full marathon.
