A team of students from Ra'anana's Ostrovsky high school has taken second place in the high school division of the Trinity College International Fire-Fighting Home Robot contest held in the US this month, reports www.local.co.il. The Ra'anana team defeated 103 others in the competition, which aims to find a robot that can navigate its way through a model of a house and put out a burning candle in the shortest possible time. The contest, known in Israel as Roboner, is held annually at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and attracts competitors from across the US and around the world. Ra'anana Mayor Nahum Hofree congratulated the Ostrovsky team and said that Ra'anana's education system was continuing its achievements in creating technological leadership. Several other Israeli schools also won prizes in various categories at the contest, including the Misgav high school in the north, ORT Givat Ram and the Rabin high school in Kiryat Gat.
