Iraqi soldiers clashed with gunmen in a Shiite district of Baghdad Friday and local officials said as many as nine people were killed and 34 wounded.
The Iraqi forces came under fire during a raid aimed at an "insurgent leader" in eastern Baghdad, sparking a gunfight, the US military said in a statement.
