Brawl in Turkish parliament injures five lawmakers

A discussion of a controversial new security bill endangered the security of several Turkish MPs on Tuesday when the Parliament session spiraled into a brawl between rival political factions.
Five MPs were injured in the tussle which broke out during a discussion of the bill which would severely limit the right to protest and assembly, Turkish daily Today's Zaman reported.
The paper quoted opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) lawmaker Mahmut Tanal as telling local media that the fight broke out when members of the ruling AK Party began walking toward a female member of the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP).

Photos emerged of bandaged lawmakers receiving treatment for their injuries.
Today's Zaman reported that the Parliament discussion continued on into the night despite the brawl.
