Egypt detains 22 members of Muslim Brotherhood

Egyptian police rounded up 22 members of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group early Thursday at their homes in the Nile Delta's Sharqiya province, security officials in the country said. The official said all were accused of belonging to a banned group. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to the media. The Brotherhood is Egypt's largest opposition group. Though officially banned, members have run for political office as independents. They hold about a fifth of the seats in Egypt's parliament.
