'Egypt remands alleged Mossad spy Grapel 15 more days'

Remand of dual Israeli-American citizen had been scheduled to expire; 'Al-Ahram' reports espionage investigation still pending.

Egyptian Authorities extended the remand of alleged Mossad spy Ilan Grapel 15 additional days on Saturday, the website of Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram reported.
According to the report, the investigation of Grapel is still ongoing and therefore his detention was extended. His remand was due to expire on Monday.

Grapel was arrested at his downtown Cairo hotel by Egyptian state security officers last month on suspicion of working for Israeli intelligence to foment sectarian strife and gather intelligence on post-revolution Egypt.
The Emory University Law student, and dual Israeli- American citizen, traveled to Egypt this summer as part of his work for a charity helping African refugees.
His family, friends and the Israeli government have categorically denied that he was working as a spy in Egypt.
