EU to appeal for Gaza peace in Middle East trip

An EU delegation will travel to the Middle East on Sunday to appeal for an end to fighting in Gaza. The Czech Foreign Ministry said Friday the high-level delegation plans to visit Egypt, Israel, the Palestinian territories and Jordan during the three-day trip. The group will include EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and foreign ministers from France, Sweden and the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic currently holds the rotating six-month presidency of the 27-nation bloc. French President Nicolas Sarkozy is set to travel to the Middle East separately next week.
