Gaza terror groups: We still have the finger on the trigger

Representatives of Palestinian “resistance” groups in the Gaza Strip warned Israel on Wednesday against any delay in the implementation of Egyptian-sponsored ceasefire understandings, which call, among other things, for easing restrictions on the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave.The warning came during a news conference held by the groups’ masked gunmen in Gaza City.The gunmen warned Israel not to “test the patience of the resistance,” adding that the Gaza-based terror groups “still have their finger on the trigger and our men did not leave the field.”The speakers praised the positions of Arabs and international parties that “contributed to curbing the aggression against our people.”They further called on Palestinians to participate in protests marking Nakba Day (Catastrophe Day) – the term Palestinians use to describe the establishment of Israel in 1948. In addition, they called on the Gazans to continue the weekly protests along the border with Israel, which are known as the March of Return.The armed groups also called on Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem “to escalate the confrontation with the occupier.”The groups repeated their rejection of US President Donald Trump’s upcoming plan for peace in the Middle East, also known as the “deal of the century,” and said they stand with Iran in its conflict with the US and Israel.In a related development, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported on Wednesday that the Palestinian armed groups in the Gaza Strip have given Israel one week to implement the ceasefire understandings. The report claimed that the Gaza-based groups remain on high alert for the possibility of the eruption of a new round of fighting with Israel.“The next round of fighting will be harsher and bigger,” the report quoted an unnamed source in the “Joint Operations Command” of the Palestinian factions as saying. The source said that the response to Israeli targeted killings in the Gaza Strip “will be different” and will include missile attacks on Tel Aviv and the use of “other military tools.”
