German FM prepares 5-point plan for Gaza relief, restarting peace process

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has drafted a five-point plan he hopes will guide EU discussions on providing relief to Gaza and restarting a peace process. The draft, presented to EU leaders in Brussels and obtained by The Associated Press, says funding and aid such as food and medical supplies should be sent to Gaza. Steinmeier's plan also suggests a potential EU role "with regard to opening of Gaza-Israel crossing points." A cease-fire early Sunday halted an offensive that Israel began on December 27.
