Hamas on Wednesday executed by hanging a man who was convicted of murdering two people in the Gaza Strip.
Ehab Ghissin, spokesman for the Hamas Ministry of Interior, identified the man as Hani Mohamed Alayan, a resident of Khan Yunis.
Ghissin said that the man had been convicted of murdering Mu'men Abu Alayan in 2000 and Hazem Barham in 2007.
The execution was carried out in a Hamas security installation in the presence of representatives of various Palestinian factions and religious leaders, Ghissin said.
Alayan was a minor when he committed the first murder. He was then sentenced to life in prison. But he was later found guilty of murdering another person - a crime for which he was sentenced to death by hanging.‭‮
