A senior Hamas official accused Mahmoud Dahlan, PA President Mahmoud Abbas's former national security adviser, of collaborating with Israel against Hamas during Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip.
The unnamed Hamas official alleged to Time Magazine that Dahlan appeared in the Egyptian coastal town of El Arish, near Gaza, shortly before Israel began its military operation, adding that Dahlan had sent Fatah loyalists into the Strip to help the IDF hunt down Hamas commanders.
The allegation is based on the interrogation of suspected collaborators accused of helping to pinpoint Hamas hideouts and weapons caches for Israel, Hamas reportedly claimed.
According to the Time report, Dahlan was hoping to help Israel decimate Hamas in order to reestablish Fatah's control of Gaza.
