Hamas officials hold cease-fire talks with Egyptian mediators in Cairo

Hamas officials held talks with an Egyptian mediator about a long-term truce deal with Israel over the Gaza Strip on Thursday, Egypt's official news agency reported. The MENA news agency said Hamas' strongman from Gaza, Mahmoud Zahar, and deputy chief Moussa Abu Marzouk from the group's Damascus branch took part in the negotiations in the Egyptian capital. Egyptian Intelligence Chief Gen. Omar Suleiman has been trying to broker a more solid cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.
