Iran foreign minister visits Damascus for talks

Iran's foreign minister made a previously unscheduled stop in Damascus Tuesday for talks with Syrian official concerning the upcoming conference on Iraq scheduled for next month in Egypt. Manouchehr Mottaki told reporters after arriving in Syria that is trip was part of "continued consultations" on regional and international issues, especially Iraq. He said Iran was still "studying the matter" over whether it would attend the May 3-4 conference on Iraq's security in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheik.
