Iran labels detained intellectual a US agent

Iran claims a detained liberal intellectual was working with the United States to bring down Iran's system of Islamic rule, state and local media reported Sunday. "Ramin Jahanbegloo was one of the people detained concurrent with US efforts to stage a velvet revolution in Iran," the semi-official ISNA news agency quoted Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi, intelligence minister, as saying. Janahnbegloo, whose arrest in April was revealed in May, has not been formally charged. Ejehi said Iran's intelligence ministry was "currently investigating" him.
