Israel has been accused of hijacking Iranian state TV and broadcasting videos of anti-government protests, according to updates from Iran.

The images appeared on Iranian state TV but seemingly only on satellite connections, with Iranian officials pointing to satellite interference as the primary cause.

Iranian State TV warned citizens that "If you see an irrelevant message on your TV, it is caused by cyberattacks by the Zionist enemy."

These disruptions led Iran to impose internet restrictions on the public on Wednesday, the Communications Ministry announced in a statement following days of fighting between Iran and Israel, Iran's dissident news network, Iran International, reported.

Iran International confirmed that network connectivity was at less than 20%, down from 80% shortly before.

In the previous days, Iranian citizens have accused the government of restricting internet access. Iran International also showed that connectivity had been steadily dropping since Israel's preemptive attack on June 13.

This is a developing story.
