Azerbaijan will not allow use of its airspace for military operations against Iran or any other country, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister told his Iranian counterpart in a phone call on Thursday, Azerbaijan's State News Agency shared.

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister, spoke with Iran's Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, about the general situation in Iran.

During the call, Bayramov expressed concern about recent tensions in the region, calling for de-escalation by all parties and emphasizing the need to resolve issues through dialogue and diplomacy while adhering to international law.

Azerbaijan's airspace and territory, he confirmed, will never be used for military operations against any neighboring country, including Iran.

US threats against Iran coming to a head

The phone call follows escalating threats from the United States against the Iranian regime. US President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters on Thursday, stated that the US had "a lot of very big, very powerful ships sailing to Iran right now, and it would be great if we didn’t have to use them."

On Friday, a US naval destroyer anchored at the Port of Eilat, in what the IDF claimed was part of routine operations planned in advance.
