An Iranian woman, desperate to see her favorite team play, successfully entered a Persepolis FC soccer match which took place place in the capitol city of Tehran last week by dressing as a man, reported the BBC.
The woman filmed herself and posted the video to social media in case she suffered backlash from her actions, according to reports by the BBC.
While Iran does not have an official ban on women attending public sporting events, it is an unspoken rule and it is therefore rare for a woman to attend a match as they are often barred from entering the arena.
The Independent reported that the Iranian woman explained in her video that she had to layer five t-shirts and five pairs of pants in order to hide her figure. She also covered her face in paint to avoid recognition.
There was a mixed response to her video from social media users, reported the BBC. Some called for her immediate arrest while others supported her courage.
