PA foreign minister: Hamas trying to influence election with rocket-fire

Hamas is trying to influence the outcome of this week's election by continuing to fire rockets into southern Israel, Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riad Malki said Monday. Malki added that Hamas does not want to see a pro-peace government elected in Israel during Tuesday's parliamentary vote, as it would pursue a political deal with the Palestinian Authority. On Sunday, two rockets struck southern Israel, violating an informal Israel-Hamas truce. Speaking to reporters in Warsaw Monday, Malki said that the Palestinian Authority is "very much worried" that such attacks might "really push Israeli public opinion and the voters to vote for an anti-peace government."
