A new reform has been introduced in Gaza's prisons, which are now controlled by Hamas following its violent takeover of the Strip last month, Channel 2 revealed on Wednesday.
Prisoners are encouraged to memorize as many chapters of the Koran as they can, and in return, their jail sentences are reduced.
For example, a prisoner who memorizes a whole chapter gets one month taken off his term. Five chapters equal a whole year out of prison.
