Palestinian Charge d'affaires in Iran, Mohammad Jawhar, signed a statement of support for Hezbollah during a special forum on the "third intifada", Iranian news agency Fars reported Wednesday.
The forum, titled "From river to sea," took place Tuesday evening at the Imam Sadiq University in Tehran, with the participation of Palestinian students and members of Palestinian factions.
Besides the Palestinian envoy to Iran, representatives of Hamas and Islamic Jihad also took part in the conference. All three signed a symbolic declaration stating their support for Hezbollah in its resistance to the "Zionist occupying entity."
Although not official, this declaration manifests the Palestinian Authority's rejection of the decision made recently by the Gulf Cooperation Council, labeling Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
Hamas’ readiness to sign the declaration is surprising in light of the recurrent statements by Khaled Mashaal, Hamas's Political Bureau Chief, on Hamas’ neutrality in the Saudi-Iranian conflict.
