By JPOST.COM STAFF
The Rafah border crossing connecting the Gaza Strip and Egypt was opened on Saturday to traffic in both directions, Palestinian and European observers said.
This was the first time the crossing had been opened since Cpl. Gilad Shalit was kidnapped in late June.
The Palestinian director of the crossing estimated that it would remain open for several days, Israel Radio reported.
