Saudi king's envoy meets Syrian president

An envoy from Saudi Arabia has delivered a message to the Syrian president calling for increased coordination between the two countries after years of strained relations. The suggests a thaw in relations between two countries that have long been on opposite sides of most of the major issues in the Arab world. The official Syrian news agency said Sunday that Saudi intelligence chief Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud delivered a verbal message to Syrian President Bashar Assad about the importance of "consultation and coordination" between them. Syrian-Saudi relations have been strained since the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, who had Saudi citizenship.
