Yemen: Security forces kill 4 Shiites in mosque

Security forces broke into a Shiite mosque during the Friday sermon and clashed with supporters of a slain Shiite Muslim cleric in northern Yemen, officials said Saturday. Security officials said the clashes, which erupted as Friday prayers started in the Grand Mosque of Harf Sufiyan district in Amran province, killed four followers of slain cleric Hussein Badr Eddin al-Hawthi, and wounded another three. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, because he was not authorized to talk to the media, said the clashes began when al-Hawthi loyalists attacked police in the mosque. The incident occurred in Amran province, about 40 kilometers northwest of the capital San`a.
