Family of murdered Afula girl Shelly Dadon: Killing was a terror attack

Police have been engaged in a months-long investigation into the death of Shelly Dadon, whose body was discovered in the Migdal Haemek industrial zone.

The family of a young girl whose body was found in early May is urging authorities to declare her murder as a terrorist attack.
Police have been engaged in a months-long investigation into the death of Shelly Dadon, whose body was discovered in the Migdal Haemek industrial zone. The police chief, Yohanan Danino, has been updating the Dadon family on the latest developments in the probe, the details of which remain under a media gag order.
In a news conference held by the Dadon family at their home in Afula, relatives said that Shelly’s murder was motivated by nationalistic fervor.
“We want this to be declared as a terrorist attack in every sense of the term,” said the family’s attorney, Amir Bar Dayan. “Because of the media gag  order, we are not allowed to add any more details.”
“My girl [Shelly] is a girl who comes from a good home and who was cruelly murdered,” said Ya’akov Dadon, Shelly Dadon’s father. “If they want to extend the gag order, I will agree, but I will not accept any other conclusion besides this murder being declared as one that was nationalistically motivated.”
“Our entire home has been destroyed,” he said. “Our souls have been destroyed. I want people to respect us and to make every effort.”
“What was special about Shelly was her smile and her warmhearted nature,” Shelly Dadon’s uncle, Asaf Sarig, said. “This is a girl who didn’t harm a soul. She went out to search for a job just 10 minutes away from Afula, and she was brutally murdered. She came back to us in a box.”
“We demand that the state not ease up in pursuing anyone who wakes up in the morning and commits murder,” he said. “We ask that the Shin Bet continue to investigate and probe all leads before eventually declaring this murder as a terrorist attack.”
