Former Mafdal (National Religious Party) party head Efi Eitam on Monday was convicted as part of a plea bargain for speeding at 157 kilometers per hour and disobeying a police officer by the Kiryat Shmona Magistrate's Court.The court's sentence included a five month suspension of the former housing and construction minister's driver's license, a fine of NIS 1,500 and a two month suspended prison sentence should he violate the same law in the future.The incident occurred in 2008 with Eitam being pulled over in an area in the North zoned for 80 kilometers per hour as the maximum speed.Upon pulling over, Eitam got out of his car and started screaming at the police officer "you idiot, what are you thinking trying to pull me over before Shabbat. I'm not going to violate Shabbat because of you. I'm going to call Dudi Cohen to bust you in the but."The officer demanded Eitam's license and registration.Eitam refused and told him he was driving on to Nuv and that the officer could follow him there if he wished.
