Police will deploy extra officers and Border Police units across Israel on Tuesday night, as part of their efforts to secure New Year's Eve celebrations, the national police headquarters said Tuesday morning.
Police said the extra officers will be sent to nightclub districts around Israel, and will enforce drunk driving regulations and carry out security checks for weapons and potential nationalist crimes.
They also said they will spend much of the day Tuesday sending uniformed and undercover police to kiosks around Tel Aviv and other cities to enforce regulations against selling alcohol and tobacco to minors as well as establishments selling so-called “kiosk drugs” like fake cannabinoid “Mr. Nice Guy” and the speed pills “Hagigat”.
Police will be deployed at mobile checkpoints in and around Israeli cities and major junctions, checking for drunk drivers, drugs, and weapons, they added Tuesday.
