Nahariya 'vigilante cops' released from prison for Pessah

Former police officers' release comes after president commutes sentence; Aharonovitch working to have them reinstated in Israel Police.

Four vigilante police officers from Nahariya serving time for attempting to bomb the car and home of alleged underworld crime figure Michael Mor were released from prison on Sunday, in time to spend Pessah with their families.
Eldad Hadad, Yaniv Ashur, Yossi Levy and Rami Musa were convicted in 2009 of placing bombs in the car and home of Mor, and sentenced to a year in prison.

Last week, President Shimon Peres decided to commute the rest of their sentence so they could be at home with their families.
The four officers said that Mor and his associates waged a campaign of intimidation against the officers and their families, and had thrown grenades and laid explosives at their family homes.
After his release on Sunday, Yaniv Ashur told reporters “we have mixed feelings right now.
We’re very happy to be home and very confused about what we’ll do in the future with our lives. We do know that many doors have been opened for us.”
In addition to their prison sentence, the officers were also kicked out of the police force.
Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch is currently working to have the four men reinstated in the police force.
