Netanyahu personally meets with survivors on eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day
PM meets with survivor who helped found Beit She'an and survivor who recently authored book telling her story of survival.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met Sunday afternoon with two Holocaust survivors that requested to meet with him ahead of Holocaust Remembrance Day.Netanyhau met with Shalom Stamberg, an 89-year-old survivor originally from Warsaw, Poland and one of the founders of Beit She'an. He was 14 when the war broke out and his family taken to the Warsaw Ghetto, where both of his parents died. Stamberg survived a number of labor camps due to his status as an essential worker because of his electrical skills. He made aliyah in 1948 on the ship "Kasarta," having lost his entire immediate family.Netanyahu also met with Pelah Raviv, an 82-year-old survivor originally from Lodz, Poland. When the war broke out, seven-year-old Raviv and her family were sent to Krakow and then to the Radom Ghetto. Raviv would sneak out of the ghetto to look for food to bring back for her family. On one of these occasions, she was gone for several days and upon returning, discovered that the entire ghetto had been liquidated and everyone taken to the death camps, including her family. She survived the war thanks to a Polish family, with whom she is still in contact, that let her live with them and work on their farm.After the war, Raviv met her future husband and the two of them made aliyah together. Her granddaughter put in the request with the Prime Minister's office after Raviv's wrote a book recalling her life. At the meeting with the prime minister, she personally presented the Netanyahu with a copy of the book. This meeting comes in the midst of the Knesset's approval of a NIS one-billion boost to aid for Holocaust survivors.
