Police responding to calls about screaming from an apartment in Netanya late Friday night arrived to find two Eritrean migrants covered in stab wounds in what they are treating as a murder- suicide.
Police said on Friday night they received calls from neighbors who reported hearing screaming from the apartment on the city’s Ahad Ha’am Street. After kicking down the door, officers found an Eritrean woman in her 20s lying dead on the floor of the apartment with stab wounds across her upper body.
Her uncle was found lying a few feet away from her in the one-room apartment, in critical condition with a single stab wound to his chest. Police called paramedics who pronounced both dead at the scene.
According to a spokesman from the Netanya Police Department, investigators believe the man stabbed his niece to death before turning the knife on himself. The spokesman added that police had never received any sort of complaints of violence from either of the two and at the moment they do not know what led to the incident.
