Officials at Ben-Gurion Airport declared a state of emergency early Saturday after authorities received reports of a rowdy passenger on a British Airways passenger jet en route to Tel Aviv.
According to Israel Radio, the passenger threatened to harm others on board the plane, prompting the pilot to notify the air traffic control tower at Ben-Gurion Airport.
The pilot was then directed to land on an alternate runway as airport officials initiated emergency operations. After the aircraft landed, armed security guards climbed on board the plane and removed the passenger in question.
Israel Radio reported that the passenger is currently being questioned by authorities.
