Undercover police agents arrest 79 connected to criminal organization in South

Suspects arrested for involvement in drug trafficking, management of gambling, extortion, money laundering, gray market loans.

Two undercover police agents in the country's South led to the arrest of 79 persons suspected of drug trafficking, management of illegal gambling , extortion, money laundering, and gray market loans among other charges. The report by Israel Radio on Tuesday stated that some of the suspects belonged to a large criminal organization which is well known in the South.
450 police officers were involved in the operation along with the Southern District Attorney's Office and the Tax Authority. Police seized several vehicles, cash, and a large quantity of property during the operation.
In a separate operation, 16 Jerusalem residents were apprehended on suspicion of drug and arms trading. The suspects were incriminated by a police agent after they made an attempt to sell him a quantity of cannabis worth thousands of dollars, a handgun and two grenades .
