Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan will donate $25 million to the Centers for Disease Control Foundation to fight Ebola, the Facebook CEO said on Tuesday. In a post to his official Facebook page, the 30-year-old entrepreneur said the deadly disease was at a "critical turning point" and needed to be addressed in the "near term" to prevent it from spreading further.Zuckerberg warned that Ebola could become the next HIV or polio – "a long term global health crisis" that could be fought for decades "at large scale" – if it does not controlled soon. The grant would empower the CDC, Zuckerberg said, as well as healthcare experts and "frontline responders," and hopefully "help save lives and get this outbreak under control."The outbreak, which was first reported in Guinea in March, has thus far killed 4,447 people, according to the World Health Organization, which predicted that within two months there could be 10,000 new Ebola cases each week.
