Influential guitarist and songwriter Thurston Moore will serenade Tel Aviv with his squalls of distortion when he and his band make their Israel debut on April 27 at the Barby Club.
Moore is the co-founder of seminal American band Sonic Youth that for 30 years beginning in 1981 helped to redefine the use of guitar in rock music. The group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2011 when Moore and his wife – bass player, singer and co-founder Kim Gordon – separated and then divorced.
Moore’s 2014 solo album The Best Day approaches Sonic Youth’s ferocity, and he and his band have been met with rave reviews on the tour that followed it. His Tel Aviv show will be a rare occurrence of an international musical figure of significant stature appearing in Israel in such a cozy venue.
