The phenomenon of self-injury disorder is defined as any intentional injury to one’s own body, often brought on by feelings of distress or as an act of rebellion. For those who engage in such irrational behavior, it also provides a sense that they are in control.
This may explain the impulse by certain American political leaders who are still enraged that Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election, to the point that they are ready to fight against his latest decision to take down a rapidly emerging global threat of nuclear weapons in the hands of a tyrannical leader with no conscience.
These politicians have a hatred so intense that they would rather go another round at a Trump impeachment than applaud the successful mission that thwarted an extremist Islamic terror state from holding the world hostage once they possessed a weapon that could evaporate whole nations.
This is nothing more than the intentional self-injury of politics, which is so focused on beating the other side that it would willingly root for the slaughter of humanity.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is leading the charge for impeachment, along with Rep. Sean Casten (D-IL), both of whom posted their strong condemnations on X/Twitter. They maintained that the president’s actions were a “grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers, an unambiguous impeachable offense.”
Following the pack are Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who have sponsored a War Powers Resolution in an attempt to prevent further American strikes from taking place, at the discretion of the Trump administration, which both men roundly criticized.
Predictably, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders joined the chorus of those who spoke out against the actions that took place Sunday morning, as B-2 stealth bombers pounded the Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan nuclear sites. The objective: obliterate all nuclear developments at these locations.
How can the grave threat Iran posed be ignored?
It’s not surprising that these Trump detractors would search long and hard for any justification to oust him from his position. But it remains a mystery how any American lover of freedom would not see the grave threat behind Iran’s actions. Who believes that there isn’t an urgent need to put an end to the maniacal Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s dream of becoming the puppet master over all of humanity?
These extremely lethal weapons would be in the hands of an extremist religious zealot who has nothing but contempt for Western civilization. It’s a recipe for the end of society as we know it.
Did these political figures so underestimate the driving desire of a regime that justifies the targeting of innocent civilians, seeking to inflict as much damage as possible? Do they not know that Iranian proxies spent the last 20 years with the objective to wipe out Israel?
Has the political landscape become so jaded, and possessed with the need to dominate all others, that they are willing to sell out the American dream of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to a tyrannical regime whose holy grail is to annihilate the Jewish people, followed by anyone who refuses to become subservient to their way of life?
It definitely seems that way. If they could, they would prefer to go back several days in time to undo the skillful and well-planned military attack that involved total secrecy, decoy planes, and the element of surprise. Although it sounded as if no decision had yet been made, in fact, the strike was about to take place in just hours.
These political leaders are essentially saying that their preference was to believe Iran’s pathetic contention that they were only enriching uranium for their own peaceful purposes, rather than come to the incontrovertible conclusion that their imminent final development of nuclear weapons would be used to control and defang Israel.
After Israel, America would have been next
Of course, once Israel would be neutralized, unable to defend herself, for fear of dire consequences to her people, Iran would move on to the next victim, the Great Satan of America, followed by all other Western countries. This was, without a doubt, the evil plan in the works to which the Trump administration put a decisive end.
And this is what sticks in the craw of these political leaders – that they neither had the courage, the fortitude, nor the determination to take down the enemies of mankind by upending the ability to initiate a nuclear holocaust.
It’s troubling to them that Trump has made them look feeble, reckless, and indifferent when it comes to taking on the role of protecting US citizens. Instead, they are now forced to acknowledge the backbone of a man whom they despise, knowing that he will get the credit for this daring escapade, ensuring him a place in the annals of history, and, perhaps, even qualifying him for the Nobel Peace Prize by ridding the world of a deadly tyrant.
Unlike president Barack Obama, who was awarded that distinction without ever having earned it, Trump was willing to take a huge risk that could have easily cost him a lot, had something gone wrong. Although he cannot run for a third term, he does carry the responsibility of leaving behind a successful administration that left the world in a better place than how they found it.
By aligning himself with Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, which has been accused of war crimes and the genocide of Gazans, the American president chose to throw in his lot with the frontline fighters against terrorism and the horrors it has unleashed as witnessed by the notorious October 7, 2023, massacre.
As these two warrior countries led the charge against the greatest evil the world has seen in over 80 years, it boggles the mind when trying to grapple with political leaders who would choose to appease the same regime that would happily eliminate them too.
If anyone should be impeached, it is those individuals who have disqualified themselves as representatives of the people in their districts, who look up to them as role models. They have failed at their most important task – protecting their constituents from all threats, both foreign and domestic.
Sadly, political considerations have taken first place, even to the point of leading everyone to the slaughter, all for their lust for power.
