The general meeting of the Association of Oil and Gas Exploration Industries in Israel approved the appointment of Maj.-Gen. (res.) Eitan Dangot as its president, and that of Amir Foster, formerly the association’s head of strategy and research, to serve as executive director.
Dangot served in a series of senior roles in the IDF and the security establishment, including as military secretary to three defense ministers and as coordinator of government activities in the territories, or COGAT. He currently serves as the chairman of the directorate of Tomer Systems. He recently was director of the Economic Development Program for Northern Israel. Dangot has a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences and economics as well as an MBA from Bar-Ilan University. He is married and a father of four.
Dangot said in a statement: “I am very happy to join the Israeli gas industry. I am determined to contribute to the realization of its vision for policy and for the environment as well as the dream of energy independence and the export of gas to neighboring countries. The Israeli gas industry faces significant challenges, both internal and external, and I intend to contribute to the association from the experience that I have accumulated over decades of service in the security establishment and government ministries.”
Foster said in a statement: “I would like to thank the association’s management for appointing me. We must continue working harder than ever to assimilate gas into the Israeli economy, to end the use of coal, to bring gas to factories and to transportation, and to boost Israel’s geopolitical standing by exporting gas to neighboring countries and to Europe.”
The Association of Oil and Gas Exploration in Israel was formed in 2010. It seeks to promote the expansion of gas exploration activities, to bring new players in to the field, and to increase competition while promoting the use of natural gas throughout Israel. The association includes companies such as Ratio Oil Exploration LP, Noble Energy, Delek Drilling LP, Energean Oil and Gas, Alon Natural Gas Exploration Ltd., Tamar Petroleum, the Italian Edison Company, and Zion Oil and Gas Inc.
