Livni meets with Turkish counterpart in wake of spate over Gaza op
The foreign ministers of Israel and Turkey have met in the first high-level contacts between the two countries since tensions erupted over Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip. The Foreign Ministry says Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan sat down together in Brussels on the sidelines of a NATO meeting. A ministry statement Thursday said the two discussed opportunities to advance regional peacemaking and emphasized the strategic importance of their countries' solid relations.
