Israeli 21-year-old scores 11 points, grabbs 9 rebounds as Sacramento beats New York Knicks.
Omri Casspi said Friday that he was satisfied with his experience in the NBA Summer League, even though his Sacramento Kings won only one of their five games in Las Vegas. The lone win came on Friday against the New York Knicks, when Casspi had his best performance yet in his short NBA career after being drafted 23rd in the first round by Sacramento. He scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds in an 84-71 Kings' victory. "We lost a lot of games in the fourth quarter and it took me a while to get my rhythm and get my confidence but it's all about practicing," Casspi said after the game. The 21-year-old said the two weeks in Vegas had given him a chance to bond with his new teammates, and described Jason Thompson and Donte Greene as "really great friends of mine." "We spent a lot of time together. We hung out," Casspi said, before stressing that all the players viewed the trip to the city of gambling as "like a business trip for us." "None of us was going to go out at night. None of us played the casino. There's a lot of temptation in Vegas. All our team had to look like professionals," Casspi noted. Casspi will now come home to Israel until the end of the summer, when he intends to return to Sacramento. "I'm looking forward to going home and seeing my family, clear my head a little bit and then get back in mid-August and start playing," he said.
