Agriculture Minister Shalom Simhon on Sunday announced that his ministry will take upon itself the responsibility for rehabilitating infrastructure in towns that suffered damage in the Carmel fire, which was still burning uncontrolled, and will transfer compensation funds for the damage to residents and municipalities.
In a meeting Saturday between top officials in the Agriculture Ministry and the Kibbutz movement, he said that it is his intention to ensure life gets back to normal as quickly as possible."We will not wait for a government decision," he said. "In addition to giving compensation, we will start with a renewed plan for Kibbutz Beit Oren that was seriously damaged in the fire."
