'Gaddafi's tanks still in centre of Misrata'

BEIRUT - Western air strikes hit government tanks on the outskirts of Libya's rebel-held Misrata late on Wednesday but tanks inside the city remain there and have not been hit, a resident told Reuters by telephone.

Forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi seized control of Misrata's port on Wednesday, stranding thousands of Egyptian and sub-Saharan African migrant workers, who were seeking evacuation by sea, the resident said.
