A senior official at the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv told Israel Radio Saturday that, contrary to widespread reports, no decision has been taken to recall Egyptian Ambassador Yasser Ridah to Cairo.

The embassy official added that authorities in Cairo were examining all possible options and that decisions will be taken as things develop. He stressed that Cairo is standing behind its demand that Israel apologize for remarks that harmed Egypt and that a commission be created to investigate the killing of Egyptian soldiers on Thursday.

Egypt, the official said, is looking to calm the current regional situation and return its relations with Israel to their proper place.
