Israeli arms firm banned by India over bribery scandal

India has blacklisted six armament firms, including Israeli Military Industries Ltd., for their part in a 2009 weapons bribery scandal, AFP reported on Monday.

In addition to the Israeli company, the ten-year ban will also apply to Singapore Technologies Kinetics Ltd, Switzerland's Rheinmetall Air Defence, Russia's Corporation Defence (CDR) and two Indian companies.

"The firms were recommended for blacklisting by the Central Bureau of Investigation on the basis of evidence collected against them," a statement from the Indian Defense Ministry read.

India froze deals with the companies in 2009 after arresting a senior Indian Defense Ministry official for allegedly accepting bribes from the firms. New Delhi made the decision to blacklist the companies after the firms were given the opportunity to  respond to the bribery accusations leveled against them.
