Police: Allegations that Ramon sexually harassed employee were reliable.
Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz set severe limits on Justice Minister Haim Ramon's law enforcement powers on Thursday when he told Ramon to refrain from making decisions in his capacity as minister that were inappropriate for a public servant who was being investigated by police. The attorney-general's decision came following an investigation being conducted by police into allegations that Ramon sexually harassed a young woman working in his office. Police officials were quoted as saying on Thursday that it appeared that the woman's testimony against Ramon was reliable. Mazuz and Ramon planned to meet early next week to discuss the specific limitations the attorney-general has placed on Ramon's official activities. According to reports, Mazuz had yet to decide on the possibility that he would suspend Ramon from his position until the harassment investigation was completed. Earlier Thursday, Mazuz and Police Intelligence and Investigation Division head Cmdr. Yohanan Danino discussed the investigation, which police officials said was in its final phase.
