New Ground Forces commander takes up post
By YAAKOV LAPPIN
02/24/2013
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz appointed Cmdr. Guy Tzur to
the position of Commander of Ground Forces on Sunday at Latrun. Tzur
is replacing Cmdr. Sami Turgerman, who will become OC Southern
Command.

"For three-and-a-half years, you've led the Ground Forces, at a time
when the IDF is required to deal with unprecedented challenges in
building up its forces," Gantz told Turgerman.

Addressing Tzur, the chief of staff added, "Today, in dynamic, complex
regional picture, with changes in the nature of combat and advances in
technology, there is no replacement to the Ground Forces. The combined
ground battle remains the central and vital component in the IDF's
ability to maneuver and win."
