"[US Secretary of State] John Kerry efforts to resume peace talks have not failed," Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat said Tuesday.

Channel 2 news reported Erekat as saying the Palestinian Authority is "doing its utmost to make Kerry's mission succeed," adding that it is premature to talk about resumption of peace talks.

Kerry will head back to the region this week in his latest drive to renew peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
