17-year-old was reportedly on a campaign to rebuild his family’s reputation when he extorted and threatened rivals and bought guns to arm up for his next move.
The teenage son of a major mobster from the South was arrested following a raid of his house in Otzem Tuesday.

The teenager was reportedly on a campaign to rebuild his family’s reputation when he extorted and threatened rivals and bought guns to arm up for his next move.

The 17-year-old was one of 10 suspects arrested by Lahish region police in Ashkelon, Ashdod and the surrounding areas on Tuesday.

He was arrested – along with several men affiliated with his father’s organization – on guns, drugs, extortion and fraud charges.

Officer Lior Ben-Simon, of the Lahish police, said the teenager was the ringleader of the conspiracy and that the rest of the suspects, who ranged in age from 19-48 were all following his lead.

Ben-Simon said police can’t link the teenager to a conspiracy to commit a mob hit, but that he was looking to rebuild his father’s organization.

Ben-Simon said one of the son’s main concerns was to try and bring back affiliates who had jumped ship and left his father’s organization for the crime-family led by Benny Shlomo, a former associate of his father who lives on nearby Moshav Heletz.

Last week, the teen’s father was sentenced to 15 months in prison in a plea bargain for his role in influencing the local elections in Netivot.

Over the past couple of years his father waged a bloody war against Shlomo and his associates, a gang war that spilled out into the streets of Ashkelon late last year with two car bombings targeting the father’s associates.
