S. Korea, US working to restart talks with North
South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun said Thursday that his country has informed North Korea of a South Korea-US joint approach aimed at jump-starting the stalled talks on the North's nuclear weapons program, but that Pyongyang hasn't yet given a response. In a Washington summit earlier this month, Roh and US President George W. Bush agreed to formulate a "joint comprehensive approach" aimed at bringing the North back to talks. Roh declined to give any details of what was contained in the proposal. Despite the lack of a response, Roh argued it was hopeful that the North didn't immediately reject the overture.
