Thousands attend J'lem Succot march

5000 Evangelical Christians from 80 countries celebrate Tabernacles Feast.
Thousands of people thronged the streets of downtown Jerusalem on Tuesday for the 49th annual Succot city march led by the city's mayor, Uri Lupolianski. The colorful event was attended by five thousand Evangelical Christians from eighty different countries for the Feast of the Tabernacles celebrations. For a Jerusalem Online video of events click here What's new on JPost.com The march caused massive traffic congestion in the city, with much of the downtown area closed off to traffic for the event, which began at 3 p.m. in the city's Sacher Park, continued through the streets of downtown Jerusalem and finally ended at Zion Square. This year's event paid special acknowledgement to security forces and soldiers, following recent events on the northern border and in the Gaza Strip. Tuesday morning, 15,000 Israelis also took part in two morning hikes in and around Jerusalem.
